Marketing Director
I put in my application online and after about a week or two, a recruiter called me for an initial screening. She then set up a longer phone chat between us, which I thought went pretty well. The following week, I had a phone interview with an external consultant they had hired to help with the hiring process. That call lasted over an hour and also went well. A couple of weeks went by without any word. I reached out and was then asked to come in for several interviews later that week. It was a marathon session, over 3 hours with six senior executives, some one-on-one, some in pairs. Everything seemed to go okay, nothing really bad, and I didn't mess up on any of the topics. They mentioned they'd been interviewing a lot of candidates for months. I didn't hear back, so I called my HR contact about a week later. They called me back the next day to say I wasn't getting an offer. The only reason they gave was that I apparently wasn't a 'good fit with the rest of the team.'
- Tell me about your marketing strategy.
- What marketing tactics have you used effectively?
- How do you approach social media marketing, especially for reaching Millennial and Generation Z students?
Admissions Representative
I met with the director of Admissions who gave a presentation about their mission, job description, and success stories. Then, an admissions representative took me on a tour and asked me some questions about my customer service experience. After that, I met with the Director of Vista college, who shared more about their business model. To finish, I observed a student interview and watched them make some phone calls. The whole thing took about two and a half hours. The employees were nice, but the business seems shady. It's not really an admissions representative role, more like a call center job where you have to make 200 calls a day, and their education is overpriced for the quality. Not impressed.
- Can you tell me about your customer service experience?
- Are you able to handle difficult situations and negativity?
- How do you deal with being hung up on during calls?
Adjunct Instructor
The interview covered my education and qualifications. We then toured the facility and I learned about how the programs function. During the conversation, I understood that this wouldn't be a long-term contract, as they really needed someone to help out.
- Are you continuing your education?
- Are you potentially looking into continuing education in fields other than this one?
Career Services Coordinator
I had two phone screenings and then three more interviews with different people, some virtual and some in person. After that, they did a background check and offered me the job. The whole thing took about a week.
- What's your strategy for managing several projects simultaneously?
