I interviewed for three roles at Visions FCU over the last few months. The most recent one was for an SSR role in Norwich, but I didn't get it because I didn't have banking experience. They were still interested in me, though, and offered me a chance to interview for a BMAS position in Johnson City. I was a bit worried about the pay since I have over 12 years of life insurance experience, and I wasn't sure if it would meet my expectations. A Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist told me the pay was about $35,000 a year. I decided to go for it and was happy to get an offer just a few days after the interview. However, the offer letter said $16.025 hourly, which comes out to $33,332 a year. I told the Specialist that I needed to talk it over with friends and family and asked if there was any room to negotiate. She said there was no guarantee, but if I wanted to negotiate, my request would need to be reviewed and approved. I got her email and sent her a negotiation letter. She replied within 24 hours saying there was no room for negotiation. It was also disappointing that her email was short and direct, and had a different tone than our previous pleasant conversations. I told her I couldn't take a pay cut of almost $7,000 (without profit sharing) to work in banking and respectfully declined the offer. I was disappointed that she didn't get back to me professionally to thank me for my time or wish me well. I'm also disappointed that the pay for the BMAS role was exaggerated by the Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist compared to what Visions was actually offering.

They mainly asked about my previous customer service experience. I was asked how I handle customer complaints and if I have experience handling cash. The main thing they care about is that you're good at customer service. You need to let the hiring manager know that you're comfortable interacting with people every day. It's not a sales role, so product knowledge isn't crucial. Your main responsibility is just to be available for customers visiting the branch.

The recruiter Michelle R. emailed me in mid-December asking for my SSN, then asked for a resume. After that, there was no more communication. This whole process was a waste of time and effort for my job search, and the HR person was irresponsible.
