So I interviewed for a role before, and didn't get it because they said I didn't have enough to train on and they wanted someone they could teach instead. They also said they didn't want me to be bored, even though I was really enthusiastic and said so multiple times. They reached out again after the person they chose to teach left, saying it was hard to teach them so much. I had an initial screening with the manager which went well, so well that I got a verbal offer. But then, at the last minute, the director wanted to interview me too, calling it a final interview. Before going in, I was coached on how to deal with the director, who apparently can be intimidating. I was nervous but still excited. In the interview, the director asked about internal company stuff that I wouldn't know from the website or social media. They weren't welcoming and kind of badgered me about who they wanted the candidate to be and what they thought of my answers. It was a horrible experience. I wasn't prepared for the director's personality, and I think from a diversity perspective, I wasn't the type of person the director wanted in front of clients. It's sad to see. I hope they can improve and be more informed when preparing candidates.
- Do you happen to know [insert person's name from university]?
Associate
So I had an initial chat with the recruiter, and then it was 5 more people in the last stage. After spending 6 hours interviewing, I got ghosted by the head of HR. They said I'd hear back about a decision, which kept getting pushed, and then they just stopped responding to my emails. I never got a rejection, but honestly, a simple thank you for all the time and prep I put in would've been nice. It still stings.
- Can you walk me through your resume and experience?
Sales Development Representative
The interview process was very unprofessional. I was contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn who seemed interested in learning more about the role. It took two weeks to even have the first call because she missed the initial one. She kept missing meetings throughout the entire process and would schedule calls with the wrong people. Sometimes she'd disappear for a week for tasks that should only take 10 minutes, which was just a waste of time. I had to constantly ask for feedback, and she'd just apologize with a default response. My general rule is that companies that don't respect you during interviews probably won't respect you as an employee. My best advice is to avoid this company and save yourself the trouble. No amount of technology can replace treating people with respect.
- Could you elaborate on your sales experience?

I loved that Virtru uses easy access on LinkedIn. I was emailed by Conley for a call. She’s amazing and does a great job of making you feel comfortable. She even made it a call and not a video chat on purpose to be less bias in her hiring. Then I was interviewed individually by 3 different potential coworkers. Finally I had an interview with my potential boss. All felt like it ran smoothly with interviews feeling more conversational than most.
- Is there any of your work you'd be open to sharing?
