First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Virginia State Corporation Commission.
Accounting and Finance Intern
It was a smooth and cooperative interview process. The recruiter and hiring managers were very friendly and shared information about the organization. The process included a recruiter call and then a hiring manager panel. The process didn't last too long either. They worked and got back to me at a respectable pace.
- Can you tell me about a time you had to juggle multiple projects?
Utilities Analyst
After applying, we first communicated by phone and email to arrange a quick 5-10 minute phone interview. Following that, I was contacted to schedule an in-person interview. The main part of the process was a panel interview with five people and a short exercise, lasting about an hour in total. It was a really positive experience, and everyone I met was very nice and helpful.
- In a situation where you and another candidate were equally qualified, what would make you the better choice for this role?
Auditor
I was contacted by an assistant to schedule a time. She wasn't clear. There were 4 interviewers: HR, CISO, CIA, Auditor. The interview itself wasn't too bad. Like most interviews, they asked questions around the table. The CIA asked the first half, and the CISO asked the second half. The agency is surprisingly small in its audit group, only 3 people. They're still figuring out which systems are in scope. A major issue was the lack of upfront information. I had to chase the HR person for basic details like parking and interviewer names the day before. Also, the admin and I agreed on a time, but then the HR person changed it the night before. It seemed like a communication breakdown.
- What do you know about the SCC?
- What's your motivation for this position?
- What makes you qualified for this role?
Financial Analyst
The interview was pretty straightforward. I knew the industry well, so answering the questions was easy for me. The interview panel had 3 people, and they were all quite friendly. They seemed to think I was knowledgeable about the industry too. There was just one interview, and no follow-up afterward.
- Can you share an experience where you demonstrated leadership?
