First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Virginia Housing Development Authority.
Business Analyst
The process began with an initial phone interview with HR. After that, I was invited for a face-to-face interview. This interview started with the HR person, and then I met with a panel. They asked standard interview questions, and there was some repetition between panel members. However, the overall process was good. When the position was offered to someone else, HR let me know via phone and email.
- Can you name the Business Analyst documents you've utilized?
- Describe a time you had to manage a difficult individual.
Web Manager
It was a long and thorough hiring process. I talked to multiple people from different departments. It seemed efficient, but I later found out it was just very practiced. The job duties for the role I was hired for weren't approved by the department head and changed to something I didn't want to do halfway through.
- What is your greatest weakness.
Human Resources Manager
So first there was a phone screen, then another phone interview a few days later with two department managers. Then, a couple of weeks after that, I met in person. It started with a senior HR person, and then I met with about 8 department managers in the conference room. The in-person part lasted about 2 hours. They asked a lot of questions that were behavioral. The people were nice, I liked my interview, and I was bummed I didn't get the job. I've seen the job posted a bunch since then though, so who knows.
- Can you describe situations from your past work experience and explain how you dealt with them?
- What motivates you to want to join our company, considering our mission?
- Tell me about a specific instance where you demonstrated your problem-solving skills.
ITSM Consultant
It was a panel interview, and I had already completed a skills assessment beforehand. They asked typical situational questions like, 'Tell me about a time something happened and how you dealt with it...' or 'Describe a project that didn't work out and what occurred…'.
- Can you share an instance where you experienced conflict at work?
- Describe a situation where something happened and how you handled it.
- Tell me about a failed project and the outcome.
