First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Virgin America.

This is about a face-to-face interview. There was a group interview and an individual interview. Make sure you smile and stay positive. The group interview had 12 people in my group, and 4 Virgin staff in one room. Random cards with questions were passed out, and we couldn't look at them until it was our turn to talk. These were customer service scenarios from different professions. You need to be able to think on your feet and think creatively. The staff will grade you on the spot to see how well you did. Be loud, confident, succinct, and smile. They will also probe you a little bit. After the group interview, I had a one-on-one. The interviewer seemed nice and friendly, but a little tired. After the interview, I waited in the main room. By then, a lot of candidates had already been dismissed, either they got the job or were escorted out – you never know. When my name was called, candidates were encouraged to clap hands and cheer for me. As I walked out of the room, a recruiter walked with me and asked how I was doing. She stopped at the corner of the hall and gave me her "TBNT" speech calmly, making it seem like she was sorry, which is something I've seen in emails when getting many rejection letters from airlines I applied to. It wasn't surprising. It seems they hire younger candidates, fresh out of college with little experience.

So I applied and on that same day I did the personality test. A few days later they had me do a video interview. I'd say people should research the company and know their stuff! About a month went by and then I got an email asking me to take a phone call and after that I was invited to an in-person interview. At the in-person interview, there were 23 of us candidates. We connected before the whole thing started and the in-flight promo crew met us and let us ask them questions. We did 2 team builders and had the orientation of the company, but not in that exact order. We had 3 breaks in total and they did have some water and snacks available in the room.
- What action would you take if a team member was not performing at their best or not completing their share of the work?
- What makes you the best candidate for this position?
- Can you share an experience with a challenging customer who was difficult to please?

I applied online and got an email for an online video interview. About three months later, I got another email for a phone interview. This phone interview was the real deal; they asked basic questions and if I was willing to pay my own way to fly out to San Francisco for a face-to-face interview. I decided to make it a trip to see family and agreed. The face-to-face interview was really fun! Just be yourself, smile, and have a good time while staying professional. You'll introduce yourself, do some role-playing, and team-building exercises. The recruiters are watching everything, so be aware. They'll start taking people out one by one, and you won't know if it's good news or bad news until you're out of sight. Luckily, I got to continue and was offered the job! Just be yourself, be social, and definitely stay off your phone the entire time. Good luck!

I applied on August 18th and later that day got an email for an online interview, which I had 72 hours to complete. You get 1-3 minutes per question, with 30 seconds to a minute to prep. It's pretty easy but can be nerve-wracking, so remember to look at the camera, not your reflection. It's a bit odd talking to no one, but you can do a practice run. All the questions are about customer service. I found them all on here. Just practice beforehand and you'll be fine! I did mine on the 21st. On the 23rd, a recruiter emailed to set up a phone interview, which I scheduled for the 24th. It was super short, around 15 minutes. They mainly asked about visible tattoos or piercings (besides earlobes) and job specifics, then set up the F2F interview date. My face-to-face was on August 30th at SeaTac airport. It wasn't a group interview, just me and the interviewer, who was really nice and kept it super laid back. Still waiting to hear back about getting the job!
