A recruiter hit me up on LinkedIn about this temp gig, hourly pay, but with a chance to go full-time. I ended up doing six interviews with different people on the team. Even though I didn't get the job in the end, everyone was super nice, professional, and kept me in the loop. HR was good at that. Still, six interviews for a temporary thing felt like a lot, and it was a bummer not getting an offer after all that. It seemed like a big process for what the job actually was. Seems like this is how things are now, even short-term jobs have long interview processes.

So I interviewed with Vir Biotechnology and it was a pretty disappointing experience. They rescheduled my interview and then just canceled it, which made me feel like they didn't really value my time. I get that hiring plans can change and things get busy, but it's important to be professional and respect candidates. How a company handles hiring says a lot about their culture, and this just didn't make a good impression. People put a lot of effort into preparing for interviews, so it would be great if Vir could be more thoughtful and transparent in their hiring process. Hopefully, they'll improve the candidate experience.

The interview process started with HR and the hiring manager, followed by an onsite interview. The team was really nice. About two weeks later, I was contacted to schedule a phone call for five days later. I was hopeful for an offer, but unexpectedly, I was informed that they had moved forward with another candidate. It is odd— it would have been better if I had received an email or a quick call instead, so I wouldn't have had to wait and get my hopes up.

The interview process and overall experience was absolutely stellar. I was interviewed by my peers, fellow Executive Assistants of multiple departments. Everyone loved their jobs, believed in the mission of the company, warm and just a really lovely representation of the company. Just the group I would have loved to join. I would have taken the job if my current job didn't need me more during the start of the pandemic. Loyalty and a positive culture seems to be valued here. They are very very busy... which is good news, there was a huge need at the time I was considered. I didn't take the job, but would love to have experienced the growth opportunities, with the warmest team I could have ever met outside of my current employer.
