It started with a group interview, where there were 2 other people with me, and then right after that, I had an individual interview. The store manager did both of them. I was at the store for about 45 minutes in total, doing both interviews.

I had my interview in a small office with three guys, two of them were managers. They were pretty chill and honest about what the job entails and the perks of working there. The questions they asked were related to the kind of stuff that appeals to the customers there, like books, games, and movies. But, only one question really seemed to matter for hiring, which might explain why people quit so often.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • If you had to pick, who would be your companion in a zombie apocalypse?
  • Can you tell me the reason you departed from your previous employment?
  • What's your go-to movie?

The interview was a group interview, which was a new experience for me. It really put the pressure on to answer the questions from the manager and assistant manager. Even though there was only one other person interviewing, it felt pretty uncomfortable. The questions were definitely unusual, but they did fit with what Vintage Stock is all about.

So I had this one-on-one interview, you know, the usual stuff about my work history and qualifications. Then they started doing group interviews. Later on, they threw in some weird questions, like asking who I'd be if I was a superhero and why. I later found out these kinds of questions were common at Vintage Stock, taken right from GameStop's interview style.
