Behavioral Technical Case

I got referred by someone who works there already. First, I talked to a recruiter who asked me some basic stuff. Then, I had a virtual interview with two senior managers. The second interview was really organized and went well. The people interviewing me made me feel comfortable. The last interview was with the director and senior director. I think I was a bit nervous for the final one, and it felt tougher. They want us to answer interview questions using the STAR method. The first interview seemed more about my past career stuff, and the last one was more about how I'd handle things in the future.

The process has changed from when I was hired and I will try and explain as I have heard from others. You will do a phone interview with a corporate recruiter and then if you pass that you will be flown to Atlanta for a group interview. You definitely do a group interview/panel with 3-4 managers as well as the rest of the applicants. BE CREATIVE and don't say the same things the other 4-5 people have said. If hired, they typically start you pretty quick, some have been booked on flights the next week for Kansas City to start the 16 weeks of training.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Managers ask general interview questions that they looked up online. They will ask you to get up and present something for them. They will not give you a topic and will just say present anything.
  • It can be anything from how to desk a deal.
  • how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, etc.

So the interview had 3 parts. First was a code exam, took about 1-2 hours, pretty simple. Then a 30-min phone screening where we just chatted about my experience, not super technical. The in-person was 2 hours, split into 4 bits. First was a written part to see how I think. Then, 3 one-on-one chats. The first one was deep technical stuff like DI, Reflection, Strategy Patterns, and thread safety, and I had to code examples on the whiteboard. The second chat was about software development practices - TDD, DDD, Clean Code. The last bit was a 'Team fit' chat, talking about my ideal team, work environment, and personal life.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Can you explain Dependency Injection and give an example?
  • Show me an example of a factory class and explain how reflection could be used with it.
  • Please write a thread-safe singleton class example.

The interview process started with a chat with HR to see if I was a good fit. After that, I had to submit a 1-minute video introducing myself and explaining why I'm a good fit. Then, I had a video call with a manager where they asked me questions like how I handle stress and asked for examples from past work experiences. The next step was an all-day group interview event in Atlanta. This involved one-on-one interviews and then interviews with other candidates present, asking similar questions to the video conference. I also had to give a 1-minute presentation on any topic. I got the job offer at the end of that week. The whole process took about 2 months.

  • Tell me about a time at work when you disagreed with a change and how you handled it.
