First, a phone call with the hiring manager. Then, a back-and-forth with the hiring manager and tech lead about what you've done and how. After that, a computer test on C/C++ knowledge, and finally, a casual chat with the co-founder (your boss).

I got contacted by this company multiple times because they posted job ads on Indeed, Monster, and Zip Recruiter under different names, most recently as Vigilant. They often advertised positions with salaries as high as $19/hour and would call within 48 hours of my reply. When I arrived at their Manhattan office, which was a shared space with other companies, there was no receptionist. I waited at the desk until someone came out of an office and asked who I was interviewing with. The interviewer seemed rushed and wasn't sure who I was until I gave him my resume. He asked me to bring $99, which he explained was a deposit for the $699 training fee. This fee and the requirement to train with their specific trainers weren't mentioned online or during the calls. The actual job they offer after training pays $8-10/hour, and if you want more, you have to wait for a position to open up and be put on a waiting list.

The interview focuses on management, your skills, past experience, and personality. It's not just about technical knowledge, but more about showing you're ready to give your all and often take on multiple roles simultaneously.
