Scrum Master
Met some team members at a conference who gave me the manager's email. I sent my resume, and he forwarded it to HR. HR contacted me asking for my salary range on Thursday. No contact on Friday. On Monday, I got a voicemail stating it was a final attempt to reach me. I called back immediately, but their phones weren't working. I emailed them right away, mentioning I hadn't heard back since Thursday but was still interested. HR apologized via email and scheduled a 30-minute phone interview with the scrum manager and agile coach. It turned out to be a technical interview, not a typical role discussion. The next interview was onsite and took two weeks because the manager and coach were out of town. The onsite was about two hours. The first panel included a scrum master, dev manager, Product Owner, and agile coach. The second panel right after was with the scrum manager and another scrum master. I was told I'd hear from HR in a few days and a decision would be made within a week. I followed up appropriately but never heard back, even after contacting HR and the manager.
- Can you explain scrum of scrums and its appropriate use cases?
- Analyzing these burn down charts, what insights can you provide?
- Could you define INVEST in the context of agile development?
Counsel
So I had a phone interview and then a panel with two attorneys. The panel interview went really well, it was great talking to them. But then in the rejection, I found out they were looking for M&A experience, which I don't have and never said I did. Also, when I applied, it wasn't clear this was a hard requirement, it sounded more like a general corporate role. They've posted this job twice more since then. It's a bummer because companies like VGT seem to want a very specific candidate, rather than developing someone. You can teach skills and learn stuff, just focus on the person.
- Tell me about your M&A experience.
Software Engineer
I went through a total of 4 rounds. The first 3 were phone interviews, and the last one was a face-to-face meeting. A Technical Recruiter handled the first call, then the studio manager spoke with me for the second. The third round was a technical interview with an engineer. The final interview was in person with three interviewers, and one person joined via video conference. This whole process spanned 4 weeks. Unfortunately, I haven't heard back from them after the interviews, even after sending emails.
- Could you explain what an inline function is, along with its pros and cons?
- What exactly is a smart pointer?
- Describe how you'd determine the sum of the two largest elements within an array.
Administrative Assistant
I put in my application online at the end of September in 2016. The whole process took 2 1/2 months. I interviewed at Video Gaming Technologies in Franklin, TN during October and November of 2016. They made me a job offer in December 2016.
