First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Victor.
Software Development Engineer
First they check your resume, then there's a quick chat with HR, and then you gotta do some technical tests or skill stuff. After that, they hit you with technical and behavioral interviews to see what you know, how you solve problems, and if you're a good fit. Lastly, HR will chat about the offer, salary, and when you can start before giving you the official offer.

Clinician
I applied online to Victor Community Support Services, a non profit organization, for their Victorville office position. It took them weeks to get back to me, so I had to call to check on my application status. When I finally got scheduled for an interview, I didn't realize I'd be meeting with two supervisors. They asked about specific interventions I've used and challenges I've encountered with clients. The whole interview lasted about an hour or more. One supervisor seemed uninterested from the beginning. I heard from an employee there that they often hire from within, so I'm not sure I even got a fair chance. Still, it seems like a good company to get experience in the mental health field.
- Can you describe your theoretical orientation?
- Could you tell us about the interventions you have utilized with clients previously?
- What are your strengths?
Residential Counselor
I sent in my application online and heard back within a week for a group interview with about a dozen other people. The interviewer was really nice and energetic, making it a fun experience. We did some role-playing and talked about what the agency does and what's expected. He told me he was sure he'd see me again. Then I had a more laid-back one-on-one chat where I could ask about the job. The interviewer seemed happy with my interest, but I did mention I was a bit worried about the physical parts, like possibly having to restrain kids. After that, I had to do a drug test, get fingerprinted, have a background check, and a physical exam. They also checked my driving record. I got the job about a month after the first group interview.
- During a role-play where you're the staff and I'm the teen resident, how would you handle it if I leaned close, put my hand on your leg, and asked 'So do you have a boyfriend?' to test your response to that kind of behavior?
- What are your thoughts on the services offered and the expectations for staff at this agency?
- I'm a little concerned about the physical demands of this job, specifically the possibility of needing to restrain children. Can you address that?
Residential Counselor
First, you submit your resume or application. If they like it, you'll come in for an orientation to learn all about the residential program's goals and values. If you're still into it and HR thinks you'd be a good fit, you'll get an interview with upper management. They'll also have you fill out a questionnaire where you define specific value words in your own terms. If that interview goes well, you'll be invited back for a second interview with a different upper management person. If you get an offer, there's a 7-day paid training. After training, if the trainer and you feel it's a good match, you'll be hired.
- What are your thoughts on cleaning up other people's bodily fluids?
