I applied online through the ViaSat website and also reached out to a recruiter I knew through networking. The recruiter confirmed my application for the Deputy Program Manager role. I had a phone interview with a Program Manager a few days after applying. The interview started okay, but then got a bit weird. The interviewer seemed unfamiliar with the PMI institute, which is a big deal for Project Managers. I also wondered about how ViaSat keeps so many jobs open for extended periods across different departments. It made me question if there's a real urgency for these roles or if they just keep a candidate pool.

So, first I had a chat with HR, then a phone interview with a manager, and finally a 4-hour onsite thing with a bunch of people from the team, the hiring manager, and the head honcho. Seriously, ViaSat's process was super smooth and friendly, the best I've seen. Even though I didn't get the offer, I gotta say they were great to me. Their Carlsbad office is really nice, and they even had a candidate lounge with a goodie bag. Everyone I met was really nice and seemed to know their stuff, which made me feel pretty relaxed.

It's a tough interview process that starts with a phone screen, then moves to panel interviews, and finally background checks. It usually takes around 3 months to finish. The onsite interview is pretty chill, business casual is fine. It lasts about 6 hours. You'll meet with different people, some you might work with, others not, but they all give feedback. The onsite interview is fairly informal.
