Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Viasat.
Intern
The whole thing was super fast, like only a week. Started with a phone screen, then a behavioral chat with the hiring manager. They asked about my past work stuff on my resume and how I'm a team player. Pretty straightforward.
- Can you explain a key element of antenna systems?
Intern
First, there was a recruiter phone screen that was easy. Then, I had an interview with the hiring manager. That one was much harder. They asked detailed questions about my resume and technical stuff related to ASIC/FPGA design flow and digital logic. They also asked RTL coding questions. Be ready to talk about anything on your resume in depth.
- What's the difference between flip-flops and latches?
Intern
I connected with a recruiter at a campus career fair, who happened to be an engineering alum from my school. They invited me for an on-campus interview the very next day. The interview itself was super casual, and I really clicked with the interviewer. We mostly talked about my technical projects and my involvement in different clubs. They mentioned I'd hear back within a couple of weeks, and I'm still waiting to find out.
- Can you explain what a hash map is and how you would go about implementing one?
