It was a long process with many steps, but overall a positive experience. The first phone interview was scheduled really fast, within 24 hours of applying. There were 5 stages in total, and I spoke with different people in each.

Applied and went through a virtual first round, then a virtual second round. After that, there were 3-4 in-office interviews, followed by a reference check. The cases during the interviews were confusing because they were really broad and not well-defined. It felt like they expected detailed answers to real business problems without providing much context, rather than a typical consulting case with a clear prompt and data. The interviewers seemed to be looking for a very specific answer, even when the responses given were good but not exactly what they had in mind. Attempts to get more context were often met with a 'What do you think' response. Considering the max base pay is $85k and some are paid less, asking for 6-7 interviews is a lot, especially compared to MBB or Google S&O roles which had fewer rounds but higher pay. The company's mission is great, which is why I went through the process, but if it wasn't for that, I would have backed out after the first interview.

The interview process was long and felt repetitive, like I was answering the same questions multiple times. It started with one phone interview, followed by four video interviews. Then, they flew me in for three in-person interviews all on the same day. About a week later, I received a rejection stating I wasn't "exactly the right fit." Given the significant time investment, I was hoping for more feedback throughout the process or a more detailed discussion after the rejection. It was a really frustrating experience.
