The interview process was quite extensive. It began with an initial phone screening by the recruiter to discuss my background and professional history. Following that, there were subsequent rounds involving current employees from the department I was applying to. Unfortunately, my experience with some of these employees wasn't ideal, as they seemed distracted and not fully engaged during the interviews, which gave me a poor impression. I decided not to continue with the remaining steps, especially since it involved a lengthy exam that could take up to two hours. Given the company's standing, I felt it wasn't justified to require such a significant time commitment for an exam without a guaranteed offer.

I'm writing this review because Via needs to be called out for their interview process. It felt more like market research than a real interview. In one interview, the interviewer spent most of the time asking about my past employers in transportation and their goals, not about my actual experience. He even admitted Via uses interviews for their proposals and RFPs. It was also weird that they don't require NDAs. The whole process felt unprofessional; the recruiter was slow to respond, and one interviewer took a call mid-interview while doing dishes. When I asked for feedback, they gave a generic response about all candidates being impressive, which made me feel like they don't invest in people. Overall, the interview process felt exploitative and lacked respect. I should have read the Glassdoor reviews first.

This was a really long interview process. It took nine interviews just to get rejected with no feedback. Like many others here, research this company before getting involved because they will definitely keep you waiting until the end, only to give you a standard 'no' without explaining why you weren't a good fit after nine rounds. Although many of the team members seem like great, smart, and capable people, nine rounds is too much and an unnecessarily long process. It's also a red flag that so many teammates from departments the person in this role wouldn't normally interact with were involved in the interviews. It makes you question if they expect you to spend hours interviewing people you wouldn't even work with directly. Listen to the other reviewers and don't waste your time; I really wish I hadn't.
