The interview happened virtually, and everyone I spoke with was really professional and nice. It felt like it took longer than I thought it would, but things are super busy in this industry right now.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

First, I had a 30 minute phone screen with a recruiter. They talked about the role, the team, and the company generally. They also asked about my background and if I was interested. After that, I had an hour long phone interview with the head of the department and two managers. We discussed the role and my experience in more detail, and it got a little technical, talking about technologies, workflow, daily tasks, and how we work. We also reviewed my portfolio projects. Then, I was invited for an onsite interview. I met with the head of the department, two managers, and the head of another related department. This lasted about two hours. It was a chance to meet people I'd work with and discuss the team, technical approaches, and how they match my experience. This was supposed to be the last step before a decision. I was talking to team members during the whole interview process. After the onsite, I emailed them to say thanks and ask about the status. I didn't hear back until HR sent an email saying they chose someone else, almost 4 months after the onsite.

I found the job listing online and reached out to a recruiter at VHB. They told me to apply online, which I did. A few days later, the recruiter called to schedule a phone interview. This call with the recruiter was about 45 minutes. Then, about a week later, I had an hour-long one-on-one meeting with a Director. Another week after that, I interviewed with two people from a different office. About another week later, the Director called me with a verbal job offer. We talked numbers and agreed on a deal. I got the written offer a couple of days after that. Then it took about 10 more days for the drug test, driving record, and background checks to come back.

Behavioral Technical

The initial interview was shorter than expected, only lasting half an hour instead of the full hour. Because of this, I didn't get to ask many questions, and the interview ended quite abruptly. The part we did cover felt pretty standard, touching on my interests, job background, and inclinations. I was told I'd hear back soon. A few days later, I emailed the internal recruiter to show my continued interest, as he had encouraged me to reach out with any questions. After three separate attempts, each about a week apart, the recruiter finally responded, informing me I'd be moving to the second round because they were very impressed with me and my answers. Weeks passed with no further contact. I tried reaching out one more time, but after that third attempt, I decided to stop. Regardless of whether it was intentional ghosting, the lack of communication was unprofessional.
