Behavioral Presentation

I applied online the day before, and then got a call the next day from HR to come in for an interview that week. I got to the Viacom building for my 3:30 interview, arriving around 3:20, but security had trouble reaching the interviewer. They made me wait in the food delivery area until they could get a hold of her, which was weird because they wouldn't even let me sit in the main waiting room. Around 3:45, I checked in again, and it seemed like they had forgotten about me. They finally got through to her, and I was allowed upstairs. Once I got to the floor for my interview, I was in another waiting room, and the receptionist was kind of rude. I asked if I could hang up my parka since it was freezing outside, but she said the coat hooks weren't for guests. This seemed odd for an HR floor. Eventually, I met with the HR person, who apologized, saying she'd tried to page security three times, and they claimed I wasn't downstairs. We went to her office, which was a nice atmosphere, dim lighting with a Viacom show playing on the TV. She asked basic questions about my current role and why I wanted to leave. The next step was supposed to be meeting the executive I'd be assisting, and the previous assistant who had been promoted. However, I never heard back from the HR person after the two-week follow-up period they mentioned, despite sending emails. I personally think it’s not too hard to send a quick rejection email.

I applied through the main Viacom site. Got an email from HR about a phone call to go over my resume and see what department needs and my skills fit best. Then, I had a phone interview with the Senior Publicist on VH1 press. Three weeks later, I got the job offer.

I had a general interview with HR at MTV Networks, who then decided which department I should intern for. Since I was interested in post-production, they pointed me towards on-air promos and arranged an interview with that department at MTV. The interviewer took me around the whole office and introduced me to the team.

Standard application process, kicked off with a phone screen, then an HR interview. I bowed out though because I got another offer. Seemed like a solid company. Not sure about benefits, but work-life balance felt a bit questionable based on what they were saying.
