Sales Strategy Lead
I applied online for the Sales Strategy Senior Associate role at Vestwell. About three weeks later, I was contacted for a phone screen. By the time the call happened, the title had changed to Sales Strategy Lead, which was a little unexpected, but the responsibilities seemed mostly aligned. The phone screen itself was a very positive experience. The recruiter was warm, respectful, and clearly explained the company’s culture, and team structure. I shared my background and experience, and she said it aligned well with their day-to-day expectations. We also briefly discussed compensation, which was in the $80K to $90K range for NYC — fair in my view for the scope of the role and the stage of the company. I was asked about visa sponsorship, and I answered that I didn’t need sponsorship at this time. While the recruiter handled the topic professionally, I got the sense that this may have impacted the final outcome, as I was ultimately not selected to move forward. Overall, I appreciated the transparency and respectful communication. The recruiter gave a great overview of what it’s like to work at Vestwell, and the culture seemed supportive and mission-driven. One small concern is that I’ve seen the role reposted multiple times since I applied, which might signal some internal misalignment on hiring or role scope — though this is becoming more common nowadays.
- Would you consider relocating?
- What are your salary expectations?
- Regarding visa sponsorship, do you need it?
Partnership Solutions Manager
I was contacted by an external recruiter in May about this role. Although the pay was below market, I was very interested in the platform and product and wanted to learn more. Now, in August, I've only had two internal interviews with little, conflicting communication in between. Because of this, I've decided not to continue. It seems like they don't have a clear idea of what this role entails, and while it's a new position with broad responsibilities, there's no clear definition of how it will contribute to company growth. My meeting with a manager confirmed this, and while they were incredibly strong in process, product, and BD, their leadership communication style was very unclear, which would be difficult to navigate. If leadership can't articulate needs clearly, it will cause confusion. The communication about the interview process itself has been long and disorganized. I was told by one person there were three more interviews with team members before a decision, and by another that there were 3-4 more interviews plus a project before decisions were made. There were weeks of silence between meeting requests. Add to this an interview cancellation/reschedule right before it was supposed to start, and it seems like employee consideration isn't a priority. I don't think they know what they want or how to approach candidates.
- Can you describe your go-to-market strategy?
Employee Services Coordinator
Sent an application and got a request to interview about 5-7 days later. I completed a 30-minute phone screening with a lady. Lady stated that I was very professional in my responses to her questions and that I appeared to know a lot about the company and its new investment initiatives. She said that I should hear a response by early next week. Finally she asked me, “Just so we can know whether to take our time, are you in the final stages of any interviewing process with another company?” “No”, I said. I guess that answer meant she could waste my time. Despite my professional tone and impressive knowledge of Vestwell, it appears that I still wasn’t good enough for her or her hiring manager. “Early next week” was a week ago. It’s possible that they’re out on vacation or whatnot, but who knows? They haven’t been keeping in touch or giving actual updates! Don’t trust a recruiter at this company when they say they want someone with customer service and financial services experience. Especially don’t trust a recruiter when they say you should be getting an answer by a certain timeframe. Their word means nothing. As you can see from this review and some of the other reviews here, ghosting job seekers is an acceptable hiring practice at this company.
- Tell me about a time you had to deal with a challenging customer.
- Can you describe a situation where you took initiative?
- To make sure we aren't wasting anyone's time, do you have any other interviews in the final stages right now?
Employer Services and Client Success
It was a really smooth and great interview process, from the first call to the last interview. Ana Esposito, the recruiter, was amazing and so professional. It was the best interview experience I've ever had, and everyone I met was great. The Vestwell team seems genuinely excited and eager to get to know you, making you feel comfortable and enthusiastic about the job, while keeping you updated with clear and timely communication. They have a great culture, and I can't say enough good things about the team. They are all professional, fun, and positive people that you'd want to work with. It's a 10/10 experience!
