First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Vertex Pharmaceuticals.
Research Scientist
It was an all-day thing, pretty standard. Started with a 45-minute seminar that went a bit over an hour with questions, from 9 to 10 AM. After that, I had 6 one-on-one interviews, 30 minutes each. Four people were in my specific field, and two were from different areas. Everyone was really nice and seemed genuinely interested in me and my research, which made it a very positive experience overall.
- Why are you interested in Vertex and what are some general questions you have?
- How would you define yourself as a scientist in terms of your skills and your field?
- Could you tell us more about your research, the methods you used, and its potential future?
Senior Research Scientist
Had a quick call with an HR person for a pre-interview screening for the hiring manager. I thought it went well, but then I was left hanging for months with hardly any updates, and I never even spoke to the hiring manager. Eventually, after months, they let me go without any further interviews.
- Were the questions specific to the job and did they test your qualifications?
Research Scientist
I first had a chat with HR. Then, a Senior Scientist interviewed me. After that, I spoke with HR again. Finally, there was a Visa Check.
