First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Veronica Beard.
Marketing Director
The initial phone screenings were pretty straightforward, but having to present a whole project at the office was a bit of a hassle. I actually had to use my PTO for it. Plus, depending on when they could fit me in, my presentation ended up being at 5pm, which meant I was already pretty drained from the workday.
- Considering your understanding of the brand, what are five optimization strategies you'd suggest to foster growth?
Integrated Communications Content Marketing and Operations Director
The interview process itself was okay, but this company is known for posting fake jobs. They've posted this same job opening multiple times since January 2024. It's hard to believe they can't find anyone suitable for a PR role in NYC, the hub for PR and influencer marketing, after 11 months. I'm very qualified with similar experience at another brand and went through several rounds. Despite trying to reach out, I was ghosted without any explanation. I know two other people who had the same experience. The person I would have reported to seemed disengaged during the interview, starting the call by mentioning how busy she was and then not paying attention to the answers to her own questions. It feels like they don't respect the candidates' time.
- Can you describe your current day-to-day responsibilities?
- What makes you a suitable candidate for this position?
Stylist
I didn't apply to this role, I was contacted on LinkedIn for a Stylist position that involved hosting events for clients. The recruiter asked me to hop on a virtual meeting that same day, which I did. Turns out, the person interviewing me wasn't the same person who reached out initially. After the first interview, they said someone would follow up. About a week later, I was asked to come in for an in-person interview at the store I'd be working at. This time, the original recruiter and a manager from an out-of-state location joined via Zoom. So, I was interviewed in person and virtually at the same time. During the interview, it became obvious that I was being considered for the wrong position since the questions were management-focused. This was super confusing since the first interview questions aligned with the initial job description. I later found out I was interviewed for the Sales Supervisor role, not the Stylist position I'd prepared for. I never heard back after the second interview.
- Can you tell me what you know about Veronica Beard?
Photo Retoucher
The interview process involved two virtual interviews followed by an in-person meeting where I met with four people. The overall experience felt prolonged, and there wasn't a strong connection. I sensed some discomfort from them regarding my photography background, and an odd comment was made about my red dress immediately upon seeing me, contributing to a generally off-putting atmosphere. Curiously, despite this being my first interview for a retoucher position, no retouching test was administered, which I found quite unusual, akin to a coding interview without a coding challenge.
- Could you start by telling me a little about yourself?
