Data Scientist
The first part was a technical assessment, including a data science case study and a SQL query. Then, I had a chat with the hiring manager about my background and to go over the company and role expectations. Finally, I gave a project presentation to a panel of five people.
- For the given data example, what distribution do you think would be best?
Data Scientist
So, there were like 5 to 7 rounds total. It wasn't super technical in terms of coding, but more focused on situational leadership stuff, my past projects, and just general technical knowledge. They asked about previous projects, my aspirations, and what I expect as far as responsibilities. Also talked about the company a bit, and ended with negotiations.
- Can you walk me through your past projects?
- How do you typically approach solving a data science problem?
- Describe your previous projects.
Data Scientist
Applied for the Data Scientist role on Linkedin Easy Apply. Got a 75-minute HackerRank test with 10 questions, one of which was a coding question with a pass/fail feedback. Found the questions easy and think I got 100% by taking screenshots and showing my professor. A few days later, a Senior Recruiter from the UK office sent some questions, which I took as a sign I passed the test. Answered them 9 hours later, all positively, except I mentioned I don't have a Polish work permit as a non-EU citizen. 8 days later, got feedback saying they found other candidates who performed better on the assessment, which I found confusing given my high score. I asked for feedback on which answers were wrong but was told they couldn't provide it. The whole process felt untrustworthy, like they didn't respect my time and their negative Glassdoor reviews are probably accurate.
- How soon would you be able to start if you were hired?
- Are you legally permitted to work in Poland?
- What is your lowest acceptable salary expectation, in PLN gross per month?
