First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Verisk.
Actuary
The first couple of rounds were fine, standard stuff, good communication and scheduling. But then the third round got weird. The interviewer seemed to be looking for mistakes and trying to catch me out. I heard nothing back after that, not even a rejection.
- What's your reason for leaving your present employer?
Actuarial Analyst
First, there's a job screening. Then, you go through rounds to get to the typical interview process. As long as you understand and articulate well, it shouldn't be an issue. You'll get to know the culture at Verisk and see how your skills fit in. They have wonderful people and culture.
- What makes you want to join Verisk?
Actuarial Analyst
I got 2 onsite interviews for 2 similar positions. They both had a similar structure: an exam first, then a 3-hour interview with 3 rounds on the same day. I think if you pass, you get the job. The first round was with 2 high-level managers, the second with 2 lower-level managers, and the last round (if applicable) with 2 even lower-title people. About 50% of the people were nice, but they didn't seem to care much. The first team I met was okay, but they didn't show interest even before I started talking. The second team I interviewed with today was very 'diverse'. I met with 2 senior managers first, who were super nice and we had a good conversation about products and the company; it felt like a normal get-to-know-you chat. The second team I met was okay, 3 people, one was sleepy and yawning but seemed nice. The final group, with 2 low-title people, was a nightmare. They came in, crossed their legs like bosses, and asked a ton of detailed questions about a non-related position I had 3 years ago, kept asking 'why why why'. I explained a few times, then they gave up and moved on, repeating the same thing. Interestingly, they had no experience with the software I used and didn't pay attention when I explained it, though they thought they were smart. It was torture, not an interview, they were asking questions in the wrong field. I knew I lost my chance after meeting them. It really shows how personality matters for different levels.
- Were there any HR questions when you met with managers?
