First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Verifi.
UX Designer
I had a really intense 1-hour interview with the hiring manager. She was super direct, jumping straight into her questions without much preamble. It felt like she had a massive list and was rushing me to get through it, cutting me off often. It was hard to keep up because she kept shifting topics. Honestly, the way she conducted the interview made me question if I'd even like working with her. Her questions seemed geared towards someone with more of a senior manager background in startup and enterprise environments, rather than a senior individual contributor.
- Can you describe your experience in a managerial role within startup and enterprise settings?
- Discuss your background in people management.
- What are your technical skills and knowledge relevant to UX design?
Manager
The interview process was quite demanding once I reached the in-person stage. Phone interviews happened before, but the in-person was several hours long with many people. The questions about skills and management style were pretty standard. The company seems very stable and the atmosphere positive. There's some tension within IT between the engineers and the security department, which I think the role might have been intended to address or resolve. This tension is typical, revolving around security versus usability trade-offs. The company handles its own recruitment, so the process moved along quite smoothly and quickly. Unfortunately, I didn't get an offer because the chosen candidate had finance industry experience, which I lacked.
- What would be your reaction and response if an employee from your team discreetly helped someone from another department on a critical project without informing you, and you found out from the other department manager's thanks and praise for that employee?
- How would you handle a situation where an employee from your team privately helped another department on a key project without your knowledge, and you discovered it through commendation from the other department manager?
- Suppose an employee on your team helped another department with a critical project without your approval, and you only found out when the other manager thanked you for their help, praising the employee. What would be your course of action and response?
Sales Development Representative
I would not work here. The interviewer was rude. I asked questions about the company and what they liked about working here, and all I got was "that's a question for another department." When I asked why they decided to work here, I got a scripted answer. In other interviews, people answer questions to the best of their knowledge and give genuine stories for why they decided to work here. Do they replace HR people with computer robots here? I would not be surprised. I also mentioned something that when I say it in other interviews (with actual people), it gets an emotional reaction. This person literally said, "Okay." Interviews are two-way streets. If your interviewer is not sounding enthusiastic about working here, then why would I be? Is this the best person you can find to sell the company? If it is and if they hate it, then I will too. Bye.
- Could you introduce yourself?
- What is it that you like about working at this company?
- What motivated your decision to join this company?
Linux Systems Administrator
The interview process was great, with good, thorough questions. They asked about inodes, mysql clusters, data migration, openstack, chef, and chef vault lwrp. They also asked about deploying openstack with chef. They described their cloud environment, its uptime, and future plans.
- Were you involved in deploying OpenStack using Chef?
- Do you play video games?
- Have you had experience with Cisco UCS?
