First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Verano Holdings.
Legal
It was a pretty straightforward interview, not too challenging. I chatted with two people about my past experience and my reasons for seeking new employment. The whole thing lasted about 15 minutes. The office itself wasn't huge, and the conference room we used was on the smaller side.
- What is prompting your departure from your present employer?
Software QA Manager
I had a recruiter interview and then a hiring manager interview. They didn't tell me anything about the process beforehand and I had to wait two weeks after the interview with no updates. Then they told me I didn't get the job offer because my interview went too well and they said I was "overqualified" for the manager position, even though I've never held that role before. This was with a referral from the CEO. I'd avoid interviewing here.
- Can you explain the difference and application of test cases versus black box testing?
Social Media Manager
I had a phone screen with the recruiter, then a video interview with the hiring manager. After that, they asked me to complete a small exercise, which I did. It's been a month and I haven't heard back at all. It feels like they're disorganized. I emailed the recruiter to withdraw my application. I don't think it's a good company to work for if they ghost candidates. Definitely AVOID.
- Can you share some brands you think are doing a great job on social media?
Designer
I had a phone interview, and they said they'd follow up but never did. I realized during the interview that there were too many red flags to want the job. They used 'being a startup' as an excuse a lot. For example, when I asked if they had a way to provide intentional growth for employees. The pay was very low for Chicago and there was no remote option. Not a great experience overall. Seems like a growing company, but they need to get it together if they want to hire good people in this market.
- What are your long-term career aspirations?
