Data Engineer Intern
after applying through green house job application, I got a call from a recruiter. They asked basic details about my current status and what I was interested in, then they scheduled the interviews. The process had 2 interviews: one with an engineer and one with a manager.
- Tell me about your Python knowledge.
- Can you answer some medium level SQL questions?
Operations Manager
The whole interview thing was super smooth and quick, honestly. It was a great experience! I started by chatting with the Director of Talent, who was really nice, clear, and communicative. They were great at keeping me in the loop about what was next. After that, I had about 45-minute chats with different people on the team. Everyone was really welcoming and made me feel comfortable. They took time to get to know me, and I got to know them and ask about the role and the company.
- Can you share an example of how you've effectively communicated and collaborated with others?
- How do you ensure clear communication and teamwork in your professional interactions?
Quantitative Scientist
I applied online and a recruiter got back to me in a few days. After a brief chat, I was sent a data challenge with no time limit. Once I submitted it, I was scheduled for an interview with the VP of Quantitative Science. The interview was terrible; she was late, gave off toxic vibes, and asked scripted questions that didn't fit the role. Her management style seemed poor, and she yawned a lot, making me wonder if it was due to being overworked or disinterest. I feel like I dodged a bullet by avoiding this toxic environment and manager. It's best to look elsewhere for your career and mental health, given their negative reviews.
- If you got the job, what would you find most difficult about it?
Senior Software Engineer
The hiring manager hadn't decided if I'd be using Python or Java, which seems like something they should know beforehand. It felt like a corporate intelligence-gathering exercise, especially when the hiring manager went into intricate details about a tokenization procedure. I felt taken advantage of. After the initial call, I withdrew my application. Their tech stack includes Java, Python, Spark, and AWS.
- Regarding a REST web service, how would you go about implementing authentication?
- Can you explain why you opted for a big data tool other than Spark?
