First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Venture Solar.
Solar Installer Lead
Applied and got a call back super fast, like within the hour. Had a phone interview first, then a video interview on Google Meets. Then they offered me the job, which I accepted.
- Are you comfortable leading a crew of installers?
Solar Consultant
The HR person cancelled the interview she scheduled with me with no explanation. I scheduled another interview on their system, and she still didn't respond or confirm. She called me at the scheduled time, but within a minute, I knew she hadn't looked at my resume, didn't know my experience or my location, and maybe not even my name. She asked about my sales experience, and I said if she looked at my resume, she'd see I have none. She panicked and kept saying the job needed an experienced salesperson, making me wonder why she set up the interview. I asked about the company and their business model, but she didn't know much about it or the industry. The interview was a complete waste of time.
- Can you tell me how many years of sales experience you have?
Outside Sales Representative
It was a regular interview, with pretty average questions. The interviewer didn't seem to care much about the answers, even though he was listening (or at least pretending to). He was on his computer most of the time, asking questions sporadically. He tried to maintain a formal attitude with a serious face, then he pitched me the position, explaining the straight commission aspect and all that.
- What do you like about this job?
Sales Consultant
After a phone screening, there were two rounds of interviews. The first was with my direct manager, and the second was with the head of sales. The questions felt more like a way to weed people out rather than trying to stump us, especially since there's a lot of turnover here. They really just wanted to see if you were competent and could hold a conversation.
- Would you be open to working six days a week?
