First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Venables Bell & Partners.
Administrative Assistant
It was a good experience, I really liked it and it was nice. I would work there again. I definitely recommend this company to others. They had 4 separate interviews and then they hired me. The background check took 2 weeks. It took 1 month from offer to start.
- Could you please introduce yourself?
Technical Services Coordinator
I was contacted directly by the PeopleOps Manager via Linkedin and we set up a time to talk. We spoke the next day, and I was then prompted to apply through their web portal. Over the following two weeks, I had discussions with members of the team. It was a positive experience; I would have accepted the offer and declined higher-paying positions for the chance to collaborate with creative individuals! Out of more than 30 companies in the Bay Area I interviewed with that summer, VBP was the only one that inquired about any needed accommodations and my pronoun preferences during the initial interview stages. Unfortunately, another candidate was selected. I sincerely wish them well and will certainly watch for future openings, and then I accepted a job offer I already had which pays double for a senior role. If you have the opportunity to interview with VBP, go for it!
- Can you explain how to perform an SMC Reset?
- What are your career aspirations for the next two years?
Account Manager
Got contacted quickly after applying online. Had a short phone chat with HR about why I applied. Then I met about 5 people from the account management team (AMs to Supervisors) in interviews that were around 20 mins each, some more casual than others. Most of them asked standard questions like why VBP and about making tough decisions under stress. Afterward, I had an informal chat with an account director where they pretty much offered me the job. They did a solid reference check, and I got the official offer by the end of that day.
- What did your last supervisor think you needed to improve on most?
Project Manager
I was first contacted by HR, and we had about two weeks of nice email exchanges and phone calls. Then, out of the blue one night, they confirmed an interview for the very next business day, which meant a scramble to get time off and get ready. I had a three-hour interview session with several people. The office was clean and modern, which was great. The interviews were mostly one-on-one, not in a group setting. The interviews were pretty relaxed and friendly, and the questions weren't too tough. It did feel long, though, sitting in a small conference room for that long without any breaks. They mentioned they pay weekly for freelancers and freelance-to-hire, which was new to me. I'd heard that Venables employees can have long hours, so I was worried about that pay structure. But my HR contact assured me no overtime was expected. Honestly, that wasn't my experience, and I ended up working a lot of late nights there.
