First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Vegas.com.
Software Engineer
This interview is a waste of time for underrepresented groups. The interview is easy, but they ask many questions outside the agenda if they have time, and then they catch your wrong answers.
- A simple Java question was asked.
- A coding question was asked.
- A system design question was asked.
Account Manager
There were about 2 or 3 interviews that were virtual or phone-based, which were not well organized, just to get to know you. Then there were 3 more interviews on site with multiple people. It wasn't clear what they were looking for. The job posting was for a Hotel Account Manager focused on rate strategy, but the interviews were really about selling tickets to shows.
- Who is an important person in your life that you recognize (excluding family members)?
Web Developer
I told myself not to do coding challenges due to the often extreme asymmetry of effort between interviewer and interviewee, especially since this project was 8-12 hours of unpaid work. I was told he didn't receive the project. Then after resending it, he said 'I'll have the team review asap'. I followed up a week later and got a terse rejection with no feedback.
- Coding project
QA Software Engineer
The interview process felt quite basic and the team seemed very rigid and stuck in their ways. It seems like most people have been with the company for a long time. This could mean the culture is good and keeps people around, but the actual work might not be that engaging, giving off a vibe of stagnation. I was asked an unusual question about weaknesses in my personal life, which was quite odd.
- Could you describe standard testing procedures?
- Do you know Java?
- Tell me about your weaknesses outside of work.
