First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Veeam Software.
Senior Systems Engineer
The interview process had some red flags early on. The emails were generic and poorly formatted. The initial hiring screen seemed unsure about the position and process, and the interviewer was late. I was then moved to a second interview with a regional manager who didn't know who I was and immediately tried to connect on LinkedIn. They mentioned the 'Sr Systems Engineer' title wasn't entirely accurate and it was actually a technical sales role with an OTE salary. The base split was decent (either 75/25 or 70/30), which wasn't an issue for me but could be for others. I was told I seemed like a good fit, but the hiring manager was going on PTO and might be slow to respond. I reached out after a week and was ghosted. After three weeks total, I reached out again and was ghosted again. Once I removed the LinkedIn contact, I received a rejection within 24 hours. It felt like they were prioritizing LinkedIn connections for some KPI over actual hiring.
- Do you enjoy public speaking?
Systems Engineer
It was going well until they just stopped replying out of the blue. We chatted a bit and things looked good, but then I was left hanging with no follow-up. Super weird.
- Can you tell me about your fundamental engineering knowledge and skills?
Systems Engineer
I mostly dealt with HR, which made things a bit unclear. I mentioned that while I didn't have experience with some specific tech they asked about, I understood the technical concepts. I also said that for certain questions, I'd need to research the specific product more. Ultimately, I didn't get the job and wished I could have discussed it with someone technical to explain myself better.
- How would you test a kitchen scale, from its initial design through to its implementation, to guarantee it would last until the end of its product warranty?
