First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Vectren.
Operations Supervisor
I had a phone interview with the hiring manager and another Operations Supervisor. They asked basic behavioral questions, and I had to answer using the STAR method. Then, I was invited for a second interview in person. The second interview was with a panel of three people who asked similar behavioral questions. The whole process was professional but also pretty relaxed, and they made me feel comfortable.
- Tell me about a time you used delegation to motivate an employee.
- Can you describe a situation where you switched to a new job or started a new role, and explain your reasons for doing so?
- Share an instance where you resolved a complicated problem with a straightforward solution.
GIS Specialist
The whole hiring process, from when the job was posted to when the offer was made, took about six months. This was quite a long wait. But once the offer was finalized and the background check was done, things moved fast, taking only 2-3 days. The interview itself was with three people: the hiring manager, a colleague I'd work with, and another manager from a related team. It felt like a panel interview, but the atmosphere was pretty relaxed.
- Given what you've learned about the role and the company, would you still want to work for Vectren? Please explain your reasoning.
Operador telefonico
The interview process started with a group interview, then a phone test. After that, there was a personal interview. Finally, there was a 10-day stage where they taught basic phone communication techniques. After passing these stages, a two-month trial contract was offered. Upon successful completion of the trial period, a two-year contract was granted, with the possibility of a permanent contract at the end of that term.
- How would you handle a situation where a customer is yelling at you due to anger?
Software Engineer
The online assessment was split into parts focusing on different areas of what a developer might do at Sky, looking at how you analyze data, how you handle different personal workplace situations, and critical thinking problems.
- If you had other ongoing deadlines, would you still accept a major project role even if you didn't feel confident about your ability to contribute?
