& Process

The interview process started with a call with HR, followed by a call with the hiring manager. I'm not sure if there were more steps after that, maybe 3 or more, but I'm not sure. Both of those initial steps went well, and they told me I was one of the first candidates they were interviewing. Unfortunately, after the second step, I was left waiting for an update that never happened. They kept saying they'd give me an update, but then eventually stopped responding after about a month.

I went through two interviews for a graphic design job. The first was a phone screen, and it went great! The interviewer, Trang, was really nice and the interview was structured well. But the second one was a bit of a bummer. The interviewer seemed tired and not really into talking to me. They hardly spoke, and mostly had their mic off. I don't think that's why I didn't get the job though. I think it was because I wasn't fully ready to talk about my projects in detail without being prompted with specific questions. It was tough to explain my work better, and I guess that's why I didn't make it to the next stage. All in all, it wasn't a terrible experience, just not what I expected from a company that size.

The executive assistant waited with me on my call for at least 10 mins. I was supposed to meet with the Chief People Officer, but the EA got word the CPO had an "unexpected meeting" and couldn't make it. I had to email the recruiter and that's when I got an apology. I was told they could try to reschedule for the next week. I have yet to hear from them. A few days later I received an email stating they decided to move forward with other candidates. I hadn't had a chance to speak with anyone outside of the recruiter. The CPO could have at least spent 20 mins as I had prepared and was excited about the company. She wasted my time and by not showing up made me feel like I did not matter. That shows me what type of company Vector Works is. Not a good one at all.

The interview process started with the Director of Sales. He invited me to his office and asked some business-related questions and some get-to-know-you questions. After the first interview, I was invited back for a second interview with peers, which was similar. A day later, I was invited for a third interview the following week with the CMO, who asked more of the same questions. All interviews felt very similar. The whole process took about three to four weeks, requiring some follow-up and patience on my part. The interviews were well-rounded, allowing me to ask questions, but I felt a bit rushed and unimportant at times. It was professional and fair.
