First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Vaxcyte.
Scientist
A recruiter from HR reached out to me, and I then spoke with another HR representative. After about three weeks, I had a conversation with the hiring manager. I really appreciated the initial HR person who contacted me; they were super responsive, provided great information, and were helpful all the way through.
- General organic chemistry questions, such as how to convert hydroxide to amine.
Senior Associate Scientist
It was a pretty standard process: first an HR screen, then a virtual interview, followed by a full day on-site which included a presentation and one-on-one meetings with panel members. The whole thing moved pretty fast and they were upfront about everything.
- Can you discuss your previous work experiences?
- Could you answer some technical questions from the scientist interviewers?
Quality Manager
The interview process took a few weeks. One interview had two interviewers at the same time, which I didn't prefer because I like more back-and-forth time with the interviewer and candidate. They responded within a week after the last interview. Even though I wasn't offered the job, it's still a great company, and I'd consider them for future roles.
- What motivates your interest in working at Vaxcyte?
Engineer
The interview process started with a recruiter call and then an HR interview. After that, I met with the hiring manager. This was followed by several one-on-one interviews with directors and future coworkers. The process concluded with a half-day on-site interview and then an hour-long presentation to the technical development team. Honestly, the process felt too long and repetitive, with the same questions being asked multiple times by different people. It's frustrating not to get an offer when they already knew about potential experience gaps from the start, which felt like a waste of everyone's time.
- What does being a team member mean to you?
