First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Varonis Systems.
Sales Engineer
Got contacted by a recruiter and after that it was a pretty straightforward interview process. First I interviewed with the Hiring Manager, then I met the immediate team I'd be working with. The recruiter call was more about my persona, the Hiring Manager interview was about my past experiences, and the Panel Interview was a mock demo/presentation. My interviews didn't really dive into super technical questions, but more about how I'd think through business and sales scenarios.

Sales Engineer
After submitting my resume, a recruiter reached out via email pretty quickly. We emailed back and forth to set up a 30-minute call. It was a bit tricky at first to get the call scheduled because the recruiter wasn't super responsive. I eventually got an email that basically said, 'Sorry, I thought I had replied to you.' Not the best first impression, but whatever. The call itself went okay, pretty standard interview stuff. The recruiter mentioned they'd pass my info to the SE Manager to schedule a chat with them. They asked for my availability on a certain day, which I gave them. Two days passed, and the day I gave them for availability went by, and I still hadn't heard back. At that point, I decided to email the recruiter, thank them for their time and the opportunity, and withdraw my application. You'd think something as simple as timely communication wouldn't be an issue, but it was. It really didn't leave me feeling good about the company.
- Can you explain what an AD Security Group is?
Sales Engineer
It was a 4-part interview process. Started with a recruiter call that was 15-20 minutes long. Then I had a 30-minute chat with the Team Lead for Regional Sales Engineering. After that, a 30-minute interview with the Manager of Technical Sales Engineering. The final stage was a 60-minute interview/technical presentation with the Director of Sales Engineering and another Sales Engineering team member. The overall experience was good. The first three interviews were quite relaxed and conversational. It felt like they were mainly assessing cultural fit, and I got good vibes from those parts. The technical round wasn't too challenging. They gave me a heads-up on what to prepare for the presentation. I had to present on a topic I chose for 15-20 minutes. I kind of got the sense that the interviewer wasn't fully impressed with my technical presentation, even though I thought I did well and met the requirements. I'm not sure what more they were looking for. In the end, I didn't get selected for further stages or an offer. They didn't give much specific feedback, which was a bit disappointing since I thought the initial rounds went really well. But that's how interviews go sometimes. It was a positive experience overall, and the people I spoke with seemed really great.
