First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Varonis Systems.
Account Executive
First, I talked to a third-party recruitment agency that prepped me well for the first stage. That was with my direct manager, who really wanted to get down to business – asking about my current role, how I approach territory, my attainment numbers, and so on. After that, I met with someone one level higher in the leadership structure, the regional manager. They told me there were two more steps, including an in-person meeting and a big roundtable discussion with the national sales manager.
- How would you go about evaluating and approaching your assigned sales territory for success?
Account Executive
I was first contacted by a Head Hunter, and after an initial interview, I was referred to the Internal Varonis Recruitment team. That conversation went well and was interactive, leading me to the Hiring Manager. I was informed there was an urgent need for this role, as it had been open for about two months. I researched the hiring manager and saw they recently got a MEDDPICC certification. We all know the main point is to listen and let the prospect speak. This guy did just that, talking for about 80% of our 30-minute meeting and asking a few basic questions: Why are you looking to leave your current job? Do you understand our business? And who in your network would you target within the territory? At the end of the 30 minutes, he mentioned he was just starting the process for this 2-month-old open position and suggested I talk to some VARs to see if I'd be interested in working for Varonis. It's a pretty straightforward decision... PASS. The hiring manager clearly didn't do his homework or coordinate properly (just lazy), didn't seem engaged, or maybe he already had someone in mind and was just doing me a favor by talking to me. They reached out to me, not the other way around... Why would anyone leave their current job for this kind of situation?
- If I were hired, which ten companies would be my top targets?
- Can you list the top ten companies you would go after if you got this job?
Sales Executive
I had a remote interview with the manager, which was scheduled in advance and started on time. They clearly explained the company and the responsibilities for the role. Afterward, there was an attempt to schedule a call with the Regional Director, but that call never happened.
- What existing customer base contacts do you possess?
- Regarding your salary expectations for this role, what are they?
