HR Generalist
This company, Varex, has been ghosting candidates, and my experience was no different. I had two interviews. After the second interview on Thursday, I was told I'd get an update the following Monday. I never heard back, so I emailed and was told to wait a week because they were still interviewing. It's been three weeks now and still nothing. It's a really bad way to treat applicants, especially HR peers. You can decide about candidates, but you need to communicate that decision promptly.
- What is your experience like?
- How do you approach time management?
- Describe your communication skills.
Software Engineer
So I applied and then got an email to pick my own interview time. The first interview was super short, like 10-15 mins, just chatting about me and the role. Then they sent another email to pick a time for the second interview, but they canceled and rescheduled it. The second interview was longer, about 40-50 minutes, with three people asking technical questions. After that, they told me their final decision.
- What is your familiarity with C++ templates?
Accountant
I spoke with the accounting manager, then a few team members, another manager, and the controller. There weren't any tricky questions. Mostly they asked about why I was looking to switch jobs and what I wanted in an accounting role.
- Would you be comfortable with smaller merit increases and fewer promotions compared to what you might see in public accounting?
Electrical Engineer
The process was pretty standard for most companies. It kicked off with a recruiter call, followed by an interview with the hiring manager. A couple of weeks later, I was invited to interview with the rest of the team. While I initially felt it was a positive experience, it ended with me being ghosted. No updates, no emails, nothing about where things stood. It was pretty frustrating, honestly. Things might take time, but at least keep the candidate in the loop.
- Can you tell me about any personal projects you've worked on outside of your formal work experience?
