Software Engineering Manager
The Head of Talent Acquisition got in touch, and our screening call quickly shifted into a deep dive about my team's AI and agentic workflow practices, including specific tools, strategies, and internal processes. I tried to keep my answers general, but they kept probing for more specifics about my current employer's work. At the end, they said they'd send follow-up docs and schedule a next step with the VP of Engineering, but then they went silent. It really felt less like a candidate screening and more like they were trying to get competitive intelligence. If you're knowledgeable about AI, be cautious!
- Can you describe how your workflows are set up to leverage agents and agent teams?
- Tell me about how your team uses agents and agent teams.
- What are your future plans regarding the use of agents and agent teams for the next few quarters?
Forward Deployed Engineer
A recruiter reached out because someone recommended me for the Forward Deployed Engineer role, but they initially pitched me for an Implementation Consultant role and made it sound like a done deal. The first interview for that role went great, felt natural, and I was told I "hit the nail on the head." After not hearing back for days, I followed up and learned I'd actually be interviewing for the Forward Deployed Engineer position. The second interviewer was late, seemed checked out, and ended the interview right on time despite being late. The whole process felt disorganized and like there wasn't a clear plan. The questions were pretty standard and didn't really dig into getting to know me. I suspect they were either using it to practice interviewing or had an internal candidate already and wanted others to interview to make them "earn it." Overall, it was a messy and not-so-good experience.
- Can you share an instance where you exceeded expectations to help a customer?
Project Manager
The hiring process felt pretty messy and confusing, going on for like three months and having some weird signs. I finished all the interview parts, but then the original job I applied for got put on hold after I waited a month for news. The team then suggested a different role, saying I'd be a great fit. This whole thing dragged out again, and then they told me I didn't get it. A few days later, the recruiter hit me up again for the same job, made me do more stuff, and then rejected me again just days after that. The recruiters were nice, but they weren't as upfront as they said they'd be. Being transparent means being real about timelines, valuing a candidate's time and effort, and being clear about where things stand — none of that happened here.
- Describe an instance where you assisted an external customer lacking technical expertise.
Implementation Technical Support Engineer
The interview process was a bit longer than expected because of the holidays and a change in the role I applied for. Vantaca's team was great to talk to and really clear about everything. It was kind of like an interview gauntlet: First, a recruiter chat, then the team lead, then the director, and finally the executive. But then the role changed, so I had another interview with the team lead and the director. After that, they made an offer.
