First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Value City Furniture.
Sales Manager
First, I had a phone call to confirm I was still interested and we set up a date and time for the interview. Then, I had a virtual interview with the current Store manager over teams.
- Can you share an instance of dealing with a difficult employee and your communication approach?
- Describe a situation where you had to keep a diverse team motivated through a business downturn.
Sales Representative
I applied for a job at their Kentwood MI location. The process felt easy going and fast paced. I thought the interview went very well. Unfortunately, the hiring manager has since ghosted me and hasn't returned my many calls asking for feedback. This turned what I thought was a positive experience into a negative one. I wouldn't recommend them.
- Can you describe a situation and what you did?
- Tell me about your past sales experience.
Sales Associate
I applied for the Value City Furniture position through Indeed. About a week after applying, I received a call. I went in for two in-person interviews. They were going to have a third interview, but since I had another offer, they decided to hire me after just the two.
- Have you had prior sales experience?
- Are you experienced in working with diverse groups of people?
Sales Consultant
I went in to talk to the manager. My interview was the only one, but I heard others had two or three. The manager wasn't straight with me about anything. They misled me on commission rates, hourly pay (they didn't clarify it was a draw that reduced our commission each month), and how training would work.
- What's your previous sales experience?
