First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Valleyfair.
Security Officer
I put in my application online, and then about three days later, I got a call to schedule an interview. We did the interview two days after that, and then that same afternoon, they called me to offer me the job.
- Tell me about your interest in this position.
- What qualities do you possess that would make you suitable for this job?
- Can you recount an instance where you successfully de-escalated a situation?
Park Services
The interview process was really smooth and welcoming. The interviewer was relaxed and engaging, which made for a comfortable chat. The questions were easy to understand and let me clearly explain my skills and experience. Overall, it was a very positive and nice interview, and it gave me a good feeling about the company culture.
- What makes you want to work at this company?
Rides Supervisor
The interview might be held in person or over Zoom, depending on when you get hired or promoted. It's usually just with the manager, but sometimes two people will interview you. It's a low-stress interview. They ask various questions that have evolved over time, but they're all pretty straightforward.
- Can you share an instance where you managed a conflict among teammates or addressed a guest complaint?
- What is your approach to leadership, and how would you describe your style?
Food Service Worker
It was a one on one interview where they seemed to be reading from a list of questions. They asked the typical 'why do you want to work here' and 'do you work better in a group or alone' questions. They did pay attention to what I said though, and actually moved me to a different position that would be a better fit for me based on my answers. The paperwork part, which they called 'processing in,' was a real pain and confusing, but it eventually worked out.
- Do you prefer working by yourself or with others?
- What makes you want to work in the food industry?
- What kind of things do you enjoy doing in your free time?
