Help Desk Manager
I interviewed for a Service Desk Manager position that Valent posted, but I didn't get an offer. While I understand that hiring managers make decisions based on fit, I'm disappointed by the lack of respect from HR. I spent over 6 hours across 3 weeks in phone and in-person interviews, and then I never heard back about their decision. I tried to follow up with the HR person I worked with, but they ignored me. It wasn't the right fit anyway, but I thought 6+ hours of my time deserved a response.
- Were there any questions you weren't prepared for or that surprised you?
Lab Technician
I heard about this job from a staffing agency. They called me a day or two after I sent my resume, and we set up an interview for that same week. The interview itself was pretty casual. They showed me around the building and the lab. Then, I met with the hiring manager, who's a researcher, and two other researchers who I'd potentially work with. The hiring manager was really relaxed and mostly asked about stuff on my resume, and so did one of the other researchers. The last researcher dug a bit deeper, asking about why I applied and what interested me in the role and the research. They ended up choosing someone else even though I thought the interview went well. Overall, it was a really positive experience.
- What motivated your application for this role?
- What aspects of this opportunity appealed to you?
- What specifically about this research caught your interest?
Formulation Scientist
I had a phone screen first, then a video interview with the HR manager. The onsite interview at Valent Technical Center was surprisingly short, only half a day. It included a technical presentation, then I met with the director and some senior scientists, and we finished with lunch with the hiring manager.
- What do you look for in a company?
- What makes you want to take on this role?
Sales Representative
The hiring process took the usual amount of time for a big company. The interview was fair, accommodating, and thorough. It wasn't uncomfortable. I don't have much more to add, just trying to reach the word count.
