First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Valent BioSciences.
Microbiology Analyst
The interview process was pretty straightforward. It started with a phone screen, and then I had an on-site interview. Neither part was super tough, but the on-site did have a panel interview with about 6 people, which could be a bit nerve-wracking.
- What's your approach when dealing with a conflict with a colleague?
Technical Sales Representative
The interview process was professional. The first phone interview was professional and they seemed to keep track of time well. The second interview was longer and didn't seem like there was a time frame for it. It would have been nice if I had been told how long to expect, but overall it was very conversational. It did take a long time to inform me if I was continuing in the hiring process or not. I would consider applying and interviewing again.
- Could you tell me about yourself?
Research Associate
It was quite a long interview process. Started with a phone screen with a recruiter, then a video interview with the head of the lab department. After that, I had an in-person interview which was pretty long, about 3-4 hours. I talked again with the head of the lab department, several lab managers, senior research associates, people from the team I would join, and some senior scientists. They also provided lunch.
- How do you approach teamwork?
- Can you share your experience with high-throughput lab automation?
- Explain the principles involved in designing PCR primers.
Senior Scientist
It was mostly over the phone because of COVID. Had a few virtual interviews with coworkers and managers where they asked direct questions about my experience and interests. Some questions were about my 2 to 5 year career goals, and some team members asked about how I'd approach working in a fast-paced team.
- Can you share an instance where your research faced difficulties and how you managed to overcome them?
