First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Val Verde USD.
Teacher
It was a panel interview with an administrator and a teacher. They asked standard questions about my background, experience, how I handle classroom management, and lesson planning. Overall it was a good experience and I'm happy I accepted the offer from this district.
- Could you describe the essential components of a lesson plan?
Teacher
The interview was pretty relaxed, with two guys asking questions. They each asked me 4 questions, so 8 total. Some things they asked about were my experience teaching Spanish 1, how I'd handle student behavior issues, and if I had any questions about the school's demographics.
- What strategies would you use to help a student who struggles with memorizing the conjugation of the verb "SER"?
Clerk Typist
The interview process felt quite intimidating, with limited interaction from the panel. They'd ask a question and then focus on their notes. It's also frustrating not always getting feedback on the job status. Many employees have mentioned that while the process is usually by the book, they often have someone pre-selected. It felt like a waste of time, and over a year later, it seems that was indeed the case.
- Can you introduce yourself?
Human Resources
The interview process was pretty straight forward. Communication was good throughout. I had to take a qualifying test. I didn't make it to the actual interview because an internal candidate was hired.
