Process Manager
The interview process involved an initial meeting with HR and two team members, including the department head. We discussed relevant work experience and some job-specific questions. The second round was supposed to be a case study with a presentation on-site, but the appointment, initially postponed by five weeks, was canceled two days beforehand.

Software Engineer
The interview process usually has a few stages to check if you know technical stuff and can solve problems in VLSI design, especially for Physical Design. First, they look at your resume to see if you have experience with tools like Synopsys ICC2, PrimeTime, and know the RTL to GDSII flow. Then, there's a technical interview focusing on basic PD concepts like floorplanning, placement, CTS, routing, timing closure, STA basics, DRC/LVS, IR drop, and congestion issues, as well as the tools and flows you've used.
- Can you explain your methodology for addressing DRC violations within the physical design process?
- What are the specific actions you take to effectively resolve DRC violations?
- How would you describe your grasp of backend design quality?
Competitive Intelligence Manager
Applied via LinkedIn to an ad from a recruiter (Harnham). Got a call from the recruiter right away asking about my background and saying they'd contact Vaillant. The ad mentioned the salary range (€100k-€110k). Found out Vaillant posted the same job on LinkedIn later, meaning I could have skipped the recruiter. A week after the first call, the recruiter contacted me again to say Vaillant wanted to interview me. It took another week to schedule the interview, making it four weeks from application to the actual interview with Vaillant. The company seems like a typical slow-moving German industrial firm. During the interview, which was almost a month after applying, they mentioned that if I passed, I'd need to fly to Germany to their headquarters in Remscheid for another interview. They also expect you to spend more than half the month working at their original site, which is in a village, and if you want to live in a city, you'd need to drive. They won't hire you outside of Germany, even with European offices. The interview had three people: the hiring manager (Head of Market Intelligence), an HR Talent Acquisition Manager, and the recruiter's supervisor from Harnham (who didn't talk much). It was pretty relaxed, with questions about my background, industry knowledge, and motivation. The recruiter called a few days later to say I was rejected for not being a 'cultural and personality fit'.

Sales Representative
Overall, it was a good experience. I got invited soon after applying, and communication was professional and friendly. The interview itself was structured: after a brief intro, they asked specific questions about my qualifications and experience. I especially liked that the interviewer created a comfortable atmosphere and showed genuine interest in me. My questions were also answered thoroughly. A minor point is that the process took a bit long, and it took several days to get feedback. Still, I'd call the interview fair and transparent. Recommended for anyone looking to apply!
