First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at VA Medical Center.
Medical Technologist
The interview process included performance-based questions and wasn't overly challenging. Interviews were scored using a point system. Multiple team members participated in the interviews. Overall, it was an enjoyable and not too difficult experience.
- What do you consider your greatest weakness?
Volunteer
it was rigourous and hard, they were very strict about what they wanted and the process was very long as well, however it was easier when i started talking to the person that was in charge which made it a lot easier.
- What makes you interested in this role, and what is your availability?
- What's your availability for this?
Licensed Practical Nurse
It was a typical government Performance Based Interview. They asked "Tell me about a time when…" questions. You needed to be very specific in your answers. I interviewed with the managers first, and then a panel of nurses I would be working with.
- Can you tell me about a time you exceeded your job expectations? What drove you to do that? How did you feel afterward? Did anyone notice your extra effort? What kind of feedback did you receive?
- What motivated you to go above and beyond your normal duties?
- Describe your feelings after completing a task where you put in extra effort.
Registered Nurse
The interview process involved a scenario-based assessment with case studies, focusing on interventions and outcomes. There were also ethical and collaboration questions. It seems like a few rounds, maybe starting with a recruiter call, then a technical screen, and finishing with an onsite interview.
- Tell me about customer service situations you face at work.
