The interview process was quite long, spanning several months from the initial contact to the final job offer. It involved multiple interviews, including discussions with individuals involved in research studies. Some interviews were conducted via Teams with the potential manager, and subsequent communication, including updates on the hiring process, was handled via email by the person managing the recruitment.

I applied online for this contract position through BU, which was fully remote at the VA Boston. I applied in November 2023 and was extended a conditional offer in February 2024. The process involved a phone call followed by a panel interview. There was a significant delay between stages, so I had to follow up multiple times via email. After submitting my references to the VA hiring team, I had to resubmit them to the BU hiring team. Unfortunately, I was then rejected and heard nothing further from my VA Boston contact. I'm unsure of the exact reason for the rejection, but I suspect it might be due to funding cuts affecting the VA department, or perhaps they found a more suitable candidate.

It was pretty stressful but they got right to the point. A few recruiters asked me questions to figure out where I might fit in. After I accepted, there were several steps before my start date. There wasn't much communication about what was happening next, and the whole thing could take up to three months.

I submitted 2 letters of recommendation, my resume, cover letter, and experience document. Then, about 20 people were selected for interviews. All the interviews happened during the week, and by Friday afternoon, they told me I got the job.
