First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at UW Medicine.
Organizational Consultant
It was a three-round process. The first round was with colleagues, the second with the Director, and the third involved two panels. The first panel asked about 10 questions, and the second panel involved presenting a plan and discussing it. There were also two case studies and a presentation involved, along with other questions.
- What about this job sparks your interest and makes you excited to be here?
Training
We had a hiring manager screening, and then two panel interviews. The panelists represented various stakeholders, offering a good range of perspectives. The questions were direct and the experience felt genuine and conversational. There were some follow-up questions, and the whole process was respectful. They kept coming back to the mission and their goals for improvement.
- What makes you want this position?
Finance Intern
It was a really relaxed interview process, mainly consisting of behavioral questions to gauge your personality and past work experience. The interviewers were super nice, and there were two interviews in total: a phone screening followed by a Zoom meeting. Honestly, it was one of the best interview experiences I've ever had!
- Could you please tell me about your resume?
Patient Care Coordinator Supervisor
I interviewed with UWMC Heart Institute. The first round was easy. Then I was invited onsite for a panel interview, which felt pretty unprofessional. I had to wait way past my interview start time. Two people were in the room, and the rest joined via video from different locations. Questions were standard leadership questions, but some people on video kept leaving and returning, or weren't ready. Many had their videos on but were clearly not paying attention and were working. One of the people in the room was rude and asked questions with a biting tone. After the interview, I got an automated email saying the position was canceled. This whole process felt unprofessional and disrespectful, like my time was wasted. They should have called or emailed personally instead of canceling the position hours later. Everyone involved could use some training on how to interview candidates. I'm very disappointed.
- How would you describe your leadership style?
