Peak Time Teller
The interview process included a phone interview followed by an in-person one. Both interviews featured many behavioral questions, so prepare to share examples. Also, it's important to be familiar with the company's culture and values. It was a really nice interview experience overall.
- Could you share your core values?
- Describe a situation where you exceeded expectations to help a customer.

The interview process was mostly smooth. It started with an HR recruiter phone screening, followed by interviews with two managers, both of which went well. About a week later, I got a call offering me the job, and we talked about pay, PTO, and benefits. The manager couldn't answer many of my questions and suggested I talk to the HR recruiter, who would follow up with a written offer and address my concerns. One major issue was that the offered pay was lower than advertised. A week later, I received a written 'offer' which was actually an acceptance letter, despite me not having accepted due to unresolved pay, PTO, and benefits concerns. I contacted HR about my concerns. She couldn't clarify the PTO or salary details, stating PTO was based on hours worked (without specifying how much) and that the job grade was lower than advertised, hence the lower pay. I asked to negotiate the salary, given my experience. The next day, I got an email stating they were rescinding the offer and seeking another candidate. The following day, the job was reposted. I was surprised they rescinded the offer just for trying to negotiate salary.

I talked to UWCU at a career fair and was impressed by their internal growth and skill development support. After applying online and mentioning the manager I met, I received an email for a phone interview with HR about two weeks later. The HR person mentioned interviewing many candidates and expected to give feedback within 10 days. They read questions, pausing for typing after each answer. I asked about their performance review process, which they were enthusiastic to explain as a key part of the UWCU culture. They then wanted to move forward with scheduling manager interviews immediately, which we did. The branch interview involved two managers who discussed football teams and my hobbies. Although I felt it went well, I was notified a week later that they chose to move in a different direction.
- Can you tell me about a company you admire and the reasons behind your respect? Subsequently, could you try to sell me a product or membership from that company?
Financial Specialist
You start by submitting your resume and cover letter online. Then, there's a phone interview where they'll ask about your interest in UW Credit Union and your personal core values, as they look for employees with similar values. Make sure to study up on UW Credit Union's core values! The in-person interview is pretty relaxed and conversational. They want to see if you're helpful and a team player. You'll do role plays selling a company or product you're passionate about, to measure your ability to explain and consult.
- How would you go about selling a credit card to someone?
