After submitting an online application, the process included a language test with multiple-choice questions. Following that, candidates were given two editing samples to work on, with detailed feedback provided on their scores. The final step was a half-hour, one-on-one Skype interview with an HR representative.

I applied for a freelance editor job online and got an email saying that position was filled but they wanted me to apply for the Managing Editor role instead. I did and completed a multiple choice test, which I passed, and then I submitted an editing sample. This took several hours. I was initially impressed by their professionalism and how quickly they responded. However, after I sent in my editing sample and followed up, I never heard back. I'm assuming my sample wasn't good enough, which is fine. But for a company that talks about mentoring and supporting freelancers, they didn't give me any feedback on why my work was rejected. They didn't even send a one-sentence response to say they weren't moving forward with my application. I found this very unprofessional, especially since I spent a lot of time on the application process. I would avoid this company now and work for a company that understands basic professional and courteous practices.

So, I applied for this job, and I already had a ton of achievements like grants, internships, conferences, volunteering, awards, scholarships, international studying, government sponsorship, and more. I've been learning languages since kindergarten and am bilingual. English is a strong skill, and I love liberal arts. My writing was really put to the test during the interview process! The applications are normally closed, but I got lucky with an email about an opening from a different company name, which turned out to be not what it seemed. After sending my CV and a motivation letter, they contacted me and gave me a written task to do quickly and send to HR. The topic was easy but showed my English writing skills, talent, idea flow, grammar, style, business formatting knowledge, and sentence/paragraph structure. I also worked in the office for the same employer for a year, where I had to do another test and an in-person interview before joining. We had tests and workshops every few weeks, which gave me enough experience to keep working freelance after I left and stay in demand. Applying for the office position was the hardest! You always had to perform well, and there was a strict 1-month trial period.

The interview had a few steps. First, I had to record a video based on a prompt. Then, I had to complete a written test. Finally, I was asked to write an essay and also provide a commentary on it.
