Administrative Assistant
The process was followed correctly, with the HR manager and the department manager present. The atmosphere was good and quite comfortable. It's advisable to prepare your questions before attending. The discussion was well-managed, without any trick questions, and everyone had a chance to speak. The tone was rather friendly.
- What are your salary expectations?
Stress Engineer
The interview included a technical question for stress analysis, a standard question about why you want to join UTC, what you can do to contribute to UTAS, what skills you can port over, and where you see yourself in 5 years.
- Can you explain shear force diagrams?
- Can you explain bending moment diagrams?
- Tell me about your motivations for joining UTC.
RF and Wireless Engineer
The interview was thorough, conducted by a Sr. OEM Project interviewer who was very truthful and straightforward. They answered all my questions and concerns honestly, helping me make the best decision for my family. The hiring process was typical and moved fast, as it was a contract position. The difficulty was mainly with the payroll schedule and the subcontracting company used for timesheets and paychecks, which required a lot of effort and time. However, the subcontracting company was responsive, considerate, and understanding, making the whole process more manageable.
- Were you part of any international engineering teams?
Post Doc
There were two steps in the interview process. The first step was a Skype interview with my future supervisors, lasting about 45 minutes. It involved presenting my research project and answering technical questions about it. The second step was an in-person interview at the University. This included a personal presentation of about 15 minutes, followed by questions from a committee made up of two supervisors, some administrative staff, and the director of the research group.
