First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at USGA.
Intern
First there was a Hirevue, then a zoom interview. The questions weren't too difficult, they mainly wanted to learn more about you. The Hirevue was more challenging than the zoom interview. The zoom interview was with two people and lasted around 30 minutes.
- Can you tell me about the best boss you've worked for?
Internship
This was honestly the worst interview experience I've had. They ask why you're excited about a role with a super basic, two-sentence job description. For this hospitality internship, they wanted to know about collecting data and research, which felt like a stretch. It seemed like they were more focused on just filling the spot than actually getting to know me.
- What makes you enthusiastic about joining USGA and this specific role?
- Can you share an instance where you gathered data for a project and synthesized it to present findings?
- What unique contributions can you offer to the USGA?
Business Analyst
First, I had to submit recorded answers to some questions before talking to anyone. Then, I had a video interview with a manager who kept saying they were searching for a 'specific type of person.' After that, I went for an onsite interview that involved back-to-back interviews for about 2 hours. I didn't hear back from HR after that, not even for feedback.
- Can you share an instance of a career challenge you faced and how you resolved it?
Service Desk Technician
We had 4 rounds in total. First was a phone call with HR. Then, a video call with a Service Desk Tech. After that, another video call with a Service Desk Tech and the Service Desk Manager. Finally, an in-person interview on site with the Head of IT, a service desk tech, an HR rep, and the whole Service Desk crew.
- Could you share something about your hobbies?
- What would be your approach if an employee presented with the exact same issue daily?
- Describe the actions you'd take if a senior executive's device was compromised.
